‘We had a lovely week in Granary Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and much more spacious than we were expecting with a lovely sized lounge and kitchen/diner. There is a lovely private garden but unfortunately the weather wasn’t warm enough to be able to sit out as one day it was snowing! There are several bird feeders outside and the different birds were lovely to watch. There are lots of maps, leaflets ,books etc of local area. Dorstone is a lovely peaceful village and the Pandy Inn has very good food and only 2 minute walk away’.  Posted on Tripadvisor – MC – 24.03.18

‘Had a lovely stay here.  Very friendly village and good food at Pany Inn.  Cottage is lovely and cost and nice and warm, especially as we were snowed in on our first day!  Surrounding area beautiful and we’ve had some great days out.  Star gazing one night on walk back from put was magical!’  GM- 17.03.18

‘We had a lovely week staying at Granary Cottage. The owners have thought of pretty much everything you need, even supplying things like loo roll and dishwasher tablets. There are local OS maps and also binoculars etc that you can borrow whilst staying there. The cottage is great – very clean, well looked after and exceptionally cosy (log burner in the living room is fantastic). Dorstone is a small village with a great local pub which we frequented most nights – also we were fortunate in that the monthly pub quiz and curry night was happening the week we stayed and I’d highly recommend it (we were advised to book as it’s popular) There are some good walks from the front door and plenty more a short drive away. We’d love to stay again sometime.’ LS – Tripadvisor post 04.03.18

‘This spacious and spotless cottage was a delight. The owners have thought of and provided everything that could be wished for, even down to an eclectic mix of cds and games. All the equipment is of high quality and the furniture and beds are really comfortable. The small, sun-trap garden is a lovely place for breakfast, or an evening glass of wine. There is a barbecue, although we didn’t use it. This cottage is truly a home away from home and an absolute credit to the owners. The village pub is a two minute walk and is really friendly. It also provides high quality, home-cooked pub food, plus a delicious selection of puddings. Hay-on-Wye is a short drive away, and there are lots of places of interest within a short distance. I cannot praise the place too highly, and we will certainly use it again’. EC – posted on Tripadvisor 24.06.16

‘Haven’t see so much rain in a long time! Still, the lovely cottge plus the food and welcome at the Pany more than made up for the weather.  We did get to stroll on Hay Bluff and sit in the garden here in between showers – both highly recommended’.  DM – London 19.06.16 – (see also below)

‘So where do I start when all the reviews show this to be a top notch rental? As well as agreeing with all the positive comments I thought I’d speak of the little touches. From the outside you can see this is different, the garden is really well kept and the flower border by the entrance gate had been recently planted with bedding plants. There was not a weed to be seen. There were filled bird feeders appreciated by Great and Blue Tits, Sparrows and a Greater Spotted Woodpecker! By the door was a short hose and a boot brush. Inside, as well as quality cutlery and crockery, there were excellent stainless kitchen knives, plenty of (matching) glasses and ice in the freezer. There was even a deodoriser in the dishwasher. A 3-D TV with glasses. A rusack, binoculars, maps and waterproof map pocket for walkers and an audio tour cd for motorists. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well appointed. In fact, I couldn’t believe how well catered for we were. This is not a holiday let, it is a loved home that we were allowed to use for a few days. Absolutely the best we have had!’ DM – posted on Tripadvisor 17.06.16

‘What a wonderful cosy cottage. Utterly charming, efficient and comfortable. Great long walks interspersed with welcoming pubs, good food and respite from the occasional rainstorms. The whole takes one into a different relaxing world to which you want to return soon.’ DG  -Chesham 06.01.14

‘We had a most enjoyable week here as the cottage is one of the most comfortable and cosy that we have ever stayed in. As we cooked Xmas lunch we were surprised at the extent of the kitchen utensils. There was nothing that we didn’t need and we had a fabulous meal. It was thoroughly warm throughout our stay and the log fire is a certain winner. The local pub is great with a homely atmosphere. There is no doubt that we will be back again but next time in the summer for more walking. Many thanks for the loan of the great cottage.’ RG – Cambs. 27.12.13

‘We have enjoyed an Autumnal break at Granary Cottage and have been very comfortable and cosy. Have sampled the local attractions of Dorstone’s Front Room and the Pandy Inn, managed a walk to Merbach Hill (between showers) and explored further afield to Hay, Hereford and the Big Pit at Blaenavon. There are many more walks to try, places to visit and food to sample that a return visit would be most welcome.’ GR – Dorset 02.11.13

‘A lovely spacious character cottage – could not have wished for anything more! Hay on Wye worth a visit (ice cream at Shepherds – a must). plus offers Dyke walk (to south) although testing is well worth the effort for the views at the top! Our stay not long enough! Will be recommending to family and friends’. L C – Kent 29.09.13
