What our guests say

Some up to date extracts of the entries copied from our good old fashioned Visitors’ Book and those published on Agency websites:

“Lovely, very clean cottage in very quiet village. Everything you need is there, even an upstairs TV-Desktop PC Monitor. Tech wise the cottage is very good, we used our roku box on the wifi, but it has a very good freeserve smart TV system. Once the heating fully kicked in the cottage was toasty warm in freezing temperatures. And with unlimited logs the living room was very cosy when the burner was lit. Piping hot water, big freezer and separate fridge. And every kitchen utensil you would need. AK – 18 March’25

“We have stayed in many cottages and this is by far the best we have experienced. Absolutely everything had been thought of. Everything labelled and instructions very clear. Kitchen, in particular, well appointed with more than enough glasses, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and pots and pans. Bottomless supply of logs for the burner at no extra cost and wood burner was a real treat every evening. Lovely village, friendly locals and great pub. Beautiful scenery and plenty of local walks.” KS – Sept ’24

Our expectations were far and away exceeded by this excellently appointed cottage. It has everything one could possibly wish for. Home from Home sounds a cliché but nevertheless, exactly how we felt at Granary Cottage. The only disappointment is that we didn’t book for longer, but planning to rectify that next time. KS – Sep ‘24. JS

A very comfortable spacious cottage. Would recommend The Pandy Inn. Enjoyed Brobury Gardens and Berrington Hall – the garden tour was very informative. A very restful, peaceful break. MC – Sept ‘24

A very comfortable, well equipped property situated in a quiet location. The local pub served really good food & had a lovely atmosphere. MC – Aug ‘24

Very well equipped cottage in a small village with a decent pub. VH – June ‘24

Another couple who keep coming back to this lovely part of England. One place to visit is Nant-y-Bedd garden – 10 acres of wonderful gardens, rivers and forest deep in the Black Mountains (Abergavenny NP7 7LY). Lovely people running it -not seen anything like it before! FT – July ‘24

A lovely stay in your comfortable, quiet, clean and wonderfully equipped Cottage. Your guide books, maps and leaflets steered us round this beautiful area – a great help. The weather was scorching hot and it was great to return to airy and cool Granary Cottage to “chillax”. CA – July ‘24

Our favourite trips were to Brobury House Gardens and Hay-on-Wye. Good walks along the Wye and the Usk. Granary Cottage was great for equipment. VM – June ‘24

The perfect cottage – home from home – in a peaceful village in beautiful countryside. We couldn’t wish for more. We had a wonderful stay and are planning to come back for our third stay next year. Thank you so much. J and J M. May – June 2024

‘How to avoid chaos and bask (not rest) in peace ! This delightful escape haven where one or, in our case four, can unwind and listen to lovely bird songs while doing nothing. Of course we might be disturbed every few hours for 5 seconds as a vehicle passes by, but it is just part of our dream. The surroundings of countryside and animals, even two black sheep, adds to the memories we wish to retain. Granary Cottage has everything anyone could need. Unfortunately, it can also make us wonder why we left this wonderful country almost 60 years ago. May you be blessed for sharing part of it.’ CM & RL, Ontario, Canada – May ’24

‘Every time we come here we find the cottage home from home, the Pandy Inn welcoming and, now, a new addition to the village: “Friendly Friday” at the village hall where tea, coffee, homemade cakes, and occasionally soup or bacon butties are served from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Good place to find out about the locality.’ AC-  Feb 2024

‘Like many others guests who stay here often, we have enjoyed another lovely time in Dorstone. We enjoyed hearing the Brecon Male Voice Choir in the Church (St Faith’s) – wow – the acoustics were great and the choir wowed us all! Caught many barbel and club on the River Wye – the main reason we come! Lovely walks, including Moccas Park and National Nature Reserve nearby – lovely ridge walk with the Wye Valley on one side and the Golden Valley on the other. FT – Oct ’22

‘Yet another excellent visit to Granary Cottage.  Managed to do some new walks in Brecon and visited Abergavenny for the first time.  Repeated several walks tht we enjoyed in previous visits including a trip to Talgarth and Cussop Dingle.  Still no sign of those elusive ‘fairies’!  As before, excellent base with everything we needed.  IG – Sep ’22

‘Another lovely stay at Granary Cottage.  Great weather for walks to Arthur’s Stone and Snodhill Castle – both with fantastic views.  Also visited Weir Gardens, Oakchurch Farm Shop for ice cream and a browse, walked along river with lunch at the Blue Boar and then went round newly renovated Castle in Hay.  Food and welcome at The Pandy exceptional.  The Bridge in Michaelchurch also worth a visit.  Looking forward to planning our next visit!.’  SA – Aug ’22
